Stay safe before, during, and after the storm

NEVER Do This
- Touch downed power lines - ALWAYS assume they're live
- Walk through flood water - can hide dangers & electrical hazards
- Go on your roof when wet or windy
- Use generators indoors - carbon monoxide kills
- Ignore gas smell - leave immediately & call utility company
Before the Storm
- Know your water shutoff valve location
- Know your electrical panel location
- Secure loose outdoor items (furniture, trash cans)
- Clear gutters and drains
- Charge devices & have flashlights ready
- Take photos/video of your home for insurance
After the Storm
- Take photos BEFORE cleaning up (for insurance claims)
- Check for gas leaks - smell rotten eggs? Leave & call gas company
- Look for water damage on ceilings & walls
- Check roof from ground - look for missing shingles
- Don't use electrical if flooding occurred
- Document everything for insurance
